Minutes of the Meeting held on 2 September 2025 at 10.00 at Romiley Life Centre

1. Minutes of the meeting on 1 July 2025 were accepted as a correct record.
2. Matters arising:
Our article about FoRP’s 20th anniversary appeared on the front page of the Stockport Post.
A new key for the Compstall Road entrance gate has been provided by SMBC.
The key to the noticeboard by the wildflowers needs locating. Action PB
3. Treasurer’s Report: there were no transactions, so the balance remains £2361.35.
4. Wildflower meadow – Seeded turf will be purchased next Spring after we’ve looked at its use outside Bredbury library. Yellow Rattle seed has been collected for sowing again in the autumn. Action PB
5. Trees – Thanks to Abdulnaser for removing the Poplar sapling by the Compstall Road entrance. The neighbours’ trees were referred to Jonathan Headlam. The donated Pawlonia trees, which Terry has been looking after, need to be planted this autumn in consultation with Anthony Crook. Action PB, TH, AC
6. School bed – Tracey and Jean have extended the planting next to Sandy Lane. Both sections have been weeded and the soil in both areas needs further improvement, using compost and our leaf mould. Action: TA, JB, PB, TH
7. Wet beds – Both beds have been weeded and look good. The bed next to the school gate has been extended and more plants added.
8. Centre bed – Regular weeding sessions have cleared the centre of the worst of the weeds and some of the congested plants. Several shrubs need pruning. Action: TH
9. Optician’s bed – This area is gradually being improved. PR/AG/MA
10. Compstall Rd – A gardening session is due in this area. Terry will start to plan the new planting. Action: TH, JB, PB
11. Carlton Ave – This area has been weeded and a further shrub planted. The Cotoneaster has been cut back.
12. Tubs – Congratulations to Jean and Barbara for keeping the displays going all summer, despite the dry weather. JB
13. Gardening – Saturday 27 September 2025 and either 9 or 16 September. Action PB
14. Social The next meal will be on Friday 26 September at Bakhara. The Christmas Social will be on Friday 5 December at the Crown at Hawk Green. Action JB
15. Other business – none.
16. Next Meeting – Tuesday 4 November 2025 at 10.00 in the Life Centre.
